Avondale Brewing Co
This microbrewery, founded in 2011, is a great meeting place, concert venue, and, of course, bar. Its location has been in Avondale since 1885–where it has served many purposes (including a brothel!). Today, the location offers a taproom, private venue, and even virtual golf.
Co-founders, Coby and Hunter Lake, wanted to breathe life back into the Alabama neighborhood, which is just what the brothers have done in the eleven years since they founded the brewery.

Back Forty Beer Co
Jason Wilson founded Back Forty in 2009 when he hired his first employee, Jamie Ray. At the time, it was one of the few craft breweries in Alabama.
When it was founded, Back Forty was one of the few craft breweries in the state. Jason Wilson founded the Gadsen, Alabama brewery in 2009 when he hired his first employee: renowned brewmaster Jamie Ray. The Birmingham location is their second brewery.
This second brewhouse offers a taproom, beer garden, and a private meeting room. Live music is also a common occurrence at the pub. Between these offerings and nearly 25 beers on draft, you would find it a challenge not to have a good time.
