Getting Started With Homebrewing
Do you love beer?
If the answer to that question is “Yes!,” then you pretty much don’t need any other reason to get into homebrewing. But, here are just a few more reasons you might be interested:
- Discovering new and different beer styles
- Learning more about beer history
- Understanding where a beer’s flavor comes from
- Drinking your own beer!
These days it is INCREDIBLY easy to get started on your homebrewing journey and make excellent, tasty beer without ANY experience. That’s because the starter kits these days are full of premium products that will last you many, many years.
For my money, I recommend the Homebrew Starter Kits from MoreBeer. I bought my first kit from them almost 10 years ago and just recently picked up their newest version of the Premium kit to see how much things had changed over the years.
Absolutely EVERYTHING you need to start brewing + More!
- Step-by-Step instruction pamphlet fine-tuned over 20 years for easy success
- An UPGRADED 8.5 Gallon Stainless Steel Brew Kettle w/ thermometer port, stainless ball valve, internal volume markers, Silicone handle grips
- Wide-mouth carboy plastic fermenter – EASY cleaning!
- Copper Wort Chiller for quick cooling
- Food-grade bottling bucket, mesh bags, transfer tubing
- Thermometer, hydrometer, sanitizer, cleaner, brushes, and stirring spoons
- Your choice of recipe kit – American Pale Ale, Hazy IPA, Eskimo Amber, or a Pliny the Elder Clone
- Bottle capper, caps, and all the other odds and ends you could possibly need!
Let me tell you – these kits have EVERYTHING you need – including the beer ingredients!
I recommend the Premium Kit over the Deluxe Kit below for two reasons:
- The upgraded boil kettle (with both a thermometer port and a ball valve)
- Included wort chiller
The wort chiller is definitely optional (although it makes brew day much quicker) and can be bought later. The boil kettle, on the other hand, would have to be completely replaced to get those upgraded features which means it is a bit of a sunk cost.
If you just want to dip your toes in with the basics, the ‘Deluxe’ Kit still has everything you need to make good beer – check it out below.
